REVIEW: Locavores and Aid for Guinea

Last night was an exemplary example of how fruitful the free events in Teton Valley can be. After work we headed over the pass to Victor for the annual "Locavore's Night Out" and indulged in free food and booze from awesome local vendors.

Grand Teton Brewing Co. announced its "Pub Nights" starting in June (more on that as the time comes) while pouring me ample samples of four brews. The Jackson Hole grocer offered valley-made meat and cheeses along with chips, salsa, and raw honey on a spoon. Lots of local wines and mead wines offered boozy delights.

Reminds us all that local food is better for our bellies, our health, and the health of our planet and community. I'm proud to be a locavore.

Next on the free agenda, I headed over to my friend Trish's house for a gathering of good vibes and consciousness (and more wine!) as we celebrated the debut docu-ad for Woontenara Aid, started by Daria (no legal last name, how cool is that?!) who you might recognize from African drumming and dancing workshops.

Daria been going to Guinea (West Africa for those with limited global mapping brains) for the past few years and feels compelled to make a difference in the lives of these glowing impoverished people. No website yet, but she's working on that as well as getting Non-Profit 501(c)3 status. Truly inspiring, I can't wait to make a donation.

$25 feeds a family of four for a week. That would be my bartab on any given night if I weren't such a lush mooch of free liquor in Jackson...
